We can’t travel all the time. There’s that thing about having to work a little and take care of the home front periodically. (Bummer, eh?)

We like to keep the adventurous spirit alive though, even if we aren’t going far from home.

One of the things we enjoy is exploring the area we live in. We live in a beautiful area of Oregon and there is always something new to see in the great outdoors. There is something just a little bit thrilling about grabbing a camera and heading out to see what we can see.

Here are some images we captured from various points on the outskirts of the town we live in:

“If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard. Because if it isn’t there, I never really lost it to begin with.”
― L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

“After all,” Anne had said to Marilla once, “I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea

It’s wonderful, great fun to just relax for an evening and drink in the beauty which is right next to us.

I think maybe this is so:

“Home is the nicest word there is.”
― Laura Ingalls Wilder
